Welcome to Mountsandel Medical Centre Online

Please call 028 70342650 for telephone triage or any queries.

Aghadowey Branch Surgery Update

Our Aghadowey branch surgery has reopened.  A GP will be in attendance and it is strictly by appointment only after a GP telephone triage call through Mountsandel Medical Centre.

A nurse will carry out a once weekly morning clinic which will also be pre booked appointments, these should be booked through Mountsandel Medical Centre appointment line.

We hope you understand given the situation, that we cannot accept walk in appointments and honour our request that it is pre-booked appointments only and know that a wider service is offered in the main surgery.

** We are currently sending out text messages to patients for numerous reasons.  These messages state Mountsandel Medical Centre and may provide mobile numbers.  These are not spam.  If in any doubt please call the main surgery number. **

Appointments in Mountsandel Medical Centre:

  • For all appointments and enquiries phone 028 70342650. For non-urgent GP appointments phone before 09.30am, Monday - Friday.
  • Online booking of appointments is not currently available.
  • Face to face appointments with a GP are after telephone triage only.

When you phone, the receptionist will ask you for some brief details  about your condition or query*. The receptionist may then offer different options to help deal with your problem which might include:

  • Asking a GP for a prescription
  • Asking advice from our practice pharmacist or suggesting you seek advice from your community pharmacist
  • Booking a telephone appointment with one of our specialist physiotherapists
  • Referring you to our in-house social work team
  • Booking a treatment room appointment or arranging for the district nurse to call.
  • A routine call back from another member of our team e.g. diabetic or respiratory nurse or health visitor
  • Offering to pass a message to or get advice from a GP on your behalf
  • A same day telephone triage appointment with a GP

(For more details on these and other options see our Alternatives to appointments page)

*Please note: Our receptionists will treat any personal information with complete confidentiality, in the same way as a GP.

Telephone triage appointments with a GP are limited and are released on a daily basis. If you think you need to speak to or see a GP you should phone to request a telephone appointment before 09.30am. (As due to high demand, non-urgent appointments are unlikely to be available after this time).

If your problem is urgent and cannot wait until further appointments are released the following day, the receptionist can discuss your case with our Duty Doctor. The Duty Doctor will decide if your problem is clinically urgent and can arrange same day telephone assessment by a GP if appropriate.

When you receive a GP telephone triage appointment, you should ensure that you remain available to take a call that day (usually before 3pm for non-urgent appointments).  If your problem requires a face to face assessment, the GP will arrange this for the same day or another day if appropriate.
