From 16^th April 2012 Mountsandel Surgery are planning to pilot a new appointments booking system. We hope that the changes will result in improved and fairer access for patients to GP appointments with a reduced numbers of wasted appointments. We would ask for your patience during the transitional period.

Main changes to the current system will include:

Same day appointments: There will be a greater number of same day appointments available for booking from 8.30 am every morning, Monday to Friday.

Pre-booked appointments: These appointments will be released on a weekly basis up to only 2 weeks in advance.

Telephone consultations: There will be a limited number of 5 minute telephone consultations with the option to request one of these when you do not feel that a surgery appointment is required.

Emergency appointments: All requests for emergency appointments will be assessed according to a strict protocol. Receptionists will ask for brief details of your symptoms and where necessary will discuss your case with one of the GPs.

Telephone system: Our telephone system has recently been substantially upgraded. We hope that the new telephone queuing system will improve access to the surgery via telephone.

Prescription requests: To improve telephone access for patients requesting appointments, prescription telephone requests will be restricted to 10am -12.30pm and 2.30pm-5pm. Patients are encouraged where possible to order repeat prescriptions using this website: www.mountsandelsurgery.co.uk which can be accessed 24 hours a day, every day.
