Patient Information for Appointment System
Same day appointments: There will be a large number of same day appointments available for booking from 8.30 am every morning, Monday to Friday.
Pre-booked appointments: These appointments will be released on a weekly basis up to only 2 weeks in advance.
Telephone consultations: There will be a limited number of 5 minute telephone consultations with the option to request one of these when you do not feel that a surgery appointment is required.
Urgent appointments: All requests for urgent appointments will be assessed according to a strict protocol. Receptionists will ask for brief details of your symptoms and where necessary will discuss your case with one of the GPs.
Telephone system: Our telephone system has recently been substantially upgraded. We hope that the new telephone queuing system will improve access to the surgery via telephone.
Prescription requests: To improve telephone access for patients requesting appointments, prescription telephone requests will be restricted to 10am -12.30pm and 2.30pm-5pm. Patients are encouraged where possible to order repeat prescriptions using this website: www.mountsandelsurgery.co.uk which can be accessed 24 hours a day, every day.
The surgery is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays.

to cancel an appointment. Patients are entitled to request an appointment with the doctor of their choice and we endevour to accommodate such requests where possible.URGENT APPOINTMENTS
A small number of emergency appointments are available each day for urgent problems. If you feel your condition warrants and emergency appointment, please contact the surgery as early as possible. The receptionist has been instructed to obtain a few details to allow the doctor or nurse to assess the urgency of your case.HOME VISITS
Home visits are only for patients who are too ill to attend the surgery. If you require a home visit please telephone before 10.00am. Again the receptionist has been instructed to obtain a few details to allow the doctor to assess whether a home visit is appropriate. Please bear in mind that a Doctor can see three or four people in surgery in the time it takes to do one home visit.
